The ATO are changing the way employers will report their payroll information to the ATO from 1 July 2018.
Who does it affect
Employers with 20 or more employees as at 1 April 2018, will need to start using Single Touch Payroll (STP) enabled software from 1 July 2018. If you have 19 or less employees, STP reporting will be optional until 1 July 2019 and will then become mandatory from that date.
Use of Payroll Software
If you currently use a payroll software provider and are unsure if they will be STP ready, we have provided links to the most commonly used payroll providers below to assist.
Xero
MYOB
ADP
QuickBooks Online
Reckon
You may also need to be mindful of the following:
- how your provider will offer STP reporting services, for example through your existing software or an additional service.
- check if your software provider has a deferred start date.
- if your software will be ready, but you won’t, you will need to apply to the ATO for a deferred start date.
